Dr. Ece Küreli Gülpınar is an architect and academic interested in establishing a link between urban history and contemporary spatial analysis. She currently serves as a Lecturer at Izmir University of Economics, coordinating the second-year architectural design studio and teaching compulsory first-year courses.
Her research focus is on the evolution of the built environment. She received her PhD in 2021 from Middle East Technical University (METU), focusing on the urban-spatial analysis of mass housing areas in the Batıkent region with her thesis entitled "Urban-Spatial Analysis of Mass Housing Environments: Mapping Batıkent in search of alternatives to generic housing." Her previous master's thesis at Gazi University focused on the documentation and mapping of Ankara's industrial heritage, further strengthening her academic vision in understanding urban identity.
With over a decade of experience in architectural education, Gülpınar has played an active role in organizing numerous national and international workshops, exhibitions, and seminars in areas such as studio coordination, academic curation, and graphic communication design since her time as a research assistant.
